    The first day's sessions include the following:

    • Session 1 - Introduction to the course
    • Session 2 - International cooperation in a global economy
    • Session 3 - Overview of legal basis of international cooperation
    • Session 4 - Mutual Legal Assistance procedures and practice
    • Session objectives: 

      • Understand the scope and work of the Council of Europe and the Cybercrime Programme Office (C-PROC)
      • Review the structure, aims and objectives of this course
      • Share any concerns or expected outcomes of the course
      • Discuss basic concepts that will be covered in the course 
    • Session objectives:

      • Recognise the global dimension of Internet and the international dimension of cybercrime
      • Explain the importance of international cooperation and recognise the available instruments for international cooperation in the field of cybercrime
      • Identify the need of very fast and efficient channels for international cooperation and the available instruments, the ways they are used, the timelines and effectiveness
      • Describe the efforts from international organisations regarding the implementation of new modalities of international cooperation
      • Discuss the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime - identify its general principles
    • Session objectives: 

      • Refresh concepts regarding cybercrime and electronic evidence and the relevant provisions of the Budapest Convention
      • Understand the different channels and mechanisms for formal international cooperation
      • Discuss an overview of the Budapest Convention as a leading tool for cooperation in the area of cybercrime and electronic evidence
      • Identify similarities across different channels and mechanisms for international cooperation 
      • Discuss an overview of the Second Additional Protocol as a mechanism to enable international cooperation
    • Session objectives: 

      • To better understand Mutual Legal Assistance practice and procedures
      • To learn about challenges of the MLA process and what and how affects the efficiency of it
      • To learn about cooperation instruments, standards and channels of communication
      • To understand what are different legal requirements and considerations
      • To learn about existing assessments of MLA and to raise awareness about recommendations how to improve the process
      • To improve knowledge about existing supporting tools
